A Tool or a Person!? (道具か人間か!? Dōgu ka Ningen ka!?, lit. "Is it a Tool or a Person!?") is the fifth chapter of the Zatch Bell!/Konjiki no Gash!! manga series by Makoto Raiku, published on May 18, 2001 in Japan and August 2, 2005 in the U.S. in the first volume.
Summary[]
Gash is attacked with ice but he's fine as Hosokawa wants Kiyomaro to hand over Gash. He says they're the same as each other while attacking. Gash wonders if he's been put in dangerous situations on purpose but Kiyomaro says it's all a coincidence. Hosokawa talks about how he met Reycom in a freezer eating frozen fish. He got fired from his job and then learned he could read the spellbook Reycom had on him. From there he took his revenge on everyone. Kiyomaro finds this despicable as Reycom is still wearing rags and Hosokawa sees him as a tool.
Kiyomaro finds Hosokawa's attacks predictable until Kiyomaro is frozen to the ground. Hosokawa kicks Kiyomaro saying Reycom and Gash are monsters. Hosokawa grabs Gash and the book and tries to use a spell. It doesn't work though so Hosokawa throws Gash to the ground making Kiyomaro very angry.
