A Solitary Soldier" 孤独な戦士 Kodokuna Senshi) is the thirty sixth chapter of the Zatch Bell!/Konjiki no Gash!! manga series by Makoto Raiku, published on February 18, 2002 in Japan and December 20, 2005 internationally in the fourth volume.
Summary[]
Tia agrees to find Kiyomaro and hurries off. Gash holds off Maruss in the meantime. As Tia looks for Kiyomaro, Tia thinks about how Maruss betrayed her after he was a good friend to her. Eventually Tia gives up and holds the book backstage. Megumi sees Tia and runs offstage as her son ends.
The two of them head back to the hallway where Gash is severly injured. Tia carries Gash to the side and prepares to fight. Maruss attacks but the female pair put up a dome shield spell.
The pair then launch an offensive spell.
However the energy slash is shrugged off by Maruss and he attacks with a different spell.
This attack is blocked by a fully frontal shield spell.
Maruss smirks at thier spell and uses a third spell.
A spike on an iron chain attacks the ground. The domed shield doesn't work against it and the girls are flown back. Tia trusts only Megumi and is relieved when she sees that Gash is gone. Tia stands up and protects Megumi. Before Maruss can attack, a Zaker spell blasts him and Rembrant back. Gash has arrived with Kiyomaro.
