A Pointless fight (ムダな争い Mudana Arasoi) is the 22th chapter of Zatch bell!/Konjiki no Gash!! by Makoto Raiku.
Summary[]
By the outskirts of Rhein river on June 6th in Germany, A town has been completely frozen over due to the ongoing fight between Furigaro and Gerhart and Brago and Sherry and Furigaro's spell Rājia Furizudo. The fight had been going on for a bit since Furigaro was decently injured and had minor injuries. Brago then attacks with Aian Gurabirei but Furigaro blocks it with Sukeipu Gishirudo then he and Gerhart move out of the way before it hits them. Furigaro then casts Ragikoru Fangu underground to the shock of Sherry and Brago and in a instant, Brago pushes Sherry away from the blast tearing off his left arm to Sherry's shock. Gerhart gloats about Furigaro's accomplishment but, before they have time to process Brago ambushes them with his arm in his mouth telling Sherry to not look away from a fight. Brago then blasts the duo with Gigano Reisu burning their books and eliminating the duo from the battle. After the battle as Sherry patches up Brago and gets his left arm back on his body. As she does this he states how she has gotten weaker and if he could still become the king at this rate. Brago then tells her that the more opponents they fight the stronger they will become. After that comment Sherry tells Brago that they will be fine and they wont miss next time along with the fact that he needs his arm stable soon or they will be in trouble. She then tries to thank Brago for saving her but he nonchalantly says that if she got hurt the book would have been burned to Sherry's annoyance. Brago then wonders if they will fight even stronger opponents if they could survive for that long.
After this comment we see Gash being messed with by Naomi on a high up place in the park. Gash is very nervous about falling so he tries to look for allies to get out of this predicament and spots Kiyomaro. He calls to him for help but Kiyo just tells Gash to be home by dinner to his dismay. As Kiyo walks a way he spots Eshros holding a spellbook and instantly gets nervous at the possibility that a mamodo could be near by. We then see Naomi still messing with Gash but Shin Akiyama comes up and tells her to stop. But he accidently scares her in the process due to his face and she runs away calling him a monster. He then rescues Gash from his predicament to Gash's gratitude. He wonders why Gash isn't scared of him and he reply's by saying that he was the one who just saved him so why should he be. Gash then spots the bird in his pocket and questions it and he tells him that it fell out of a tree and he saved it and Gash hopes he will help it. Eshros then calls Shin back and he leaves Gash but, Kiyo was watching the whole ordeal and thinks that Shin is the mamodo of the spellbook. But he thinks that Shin doesn't look like a bad guy and thinks he might be a kind mamodo and following him it further enforces this point making him think that they will not have to fight. But when he follows the duo to a trash can he overhears about them talking about the town and how its been awhile since Shin had visited it. Shin says that he remembers painful memories as Eshros tells him that they should destroy the town with his new power if that is the case to Kiyo's shock.
